How much of a role do you think government should have in an economy. Think capitalism(Adam Smith) vs. a command economy.Explain your opinion. Your response should be at least five sentences.
Government plays a huge role in economy but I think government should have little role in an economy because it should be up to the people to make their own decisions. Consumers participating in a capitalist system in which they own private property and participate in the free marketplace is good because they can make their own decisions and learn from their mistakes in order to become better business owners. In a command economy, the government is restricts this priviledge and I don't think that is fair to others.
In economy I think the purpose of a government is to regulate competition besides that I think the people can handle it. This meaning that government should play a small role in economy. In command economies the people have no choice and in my opinion I think that is completely wrong. In a capitalism based economy people and companies have more control than government. I think this is a better way for governments to play a role.
I think the government should not have the biggest role in an economy. They should have little say in the economy. The people should be free to open a business if they like and have a minimum of government inference. They can also create competition in the market. Competition is not only beneficially to the consumers, but the business owners also. We are able to get the best products available at the lowest prices. Businesses now have a motive for improving the good or service.
I think that the government should not have the biggest role or influence over the economy. Since the government does not own the businesses in the economy therefore they should not control the economy. The companies should be able to do what they want since they are the people who are working with the economy directly daily. Competition within the economy is good for consumers and sellers, its good for consumers because that lowers the price and for businesses the sales of there products will go up.
I think the government’s role should be a balance between its role in capitalism and a command economy. In a capitalistic market, the government’s major role is to ensure the market stays competitive. Private citizens own the factors of production. In a command economy, the government controls all of the factors of production and makes all of the important economic decisions, including what to produce, how to produce, and for whom to produce. To be the most successful, I believe the government should take a more capitalistic approach, but incorporate some of the ideals from a command economy. For example, a government should ensure that there is competition in the market, but should also compete with other companies by providing goods and services. The government also needs the power to step in if a business or company is breaking the law. The mix in ideals will benefit consumers, sellers, and the government through its organized and balanced system. ~ Morgan Shapiro
I think that the government shouldn't have too much control over the economy. It's not fair for those who live in countries with a command economy where everything they do, what they earn, what they produce is all determined by the goverment. We should all be able to have a say because we as people know what we need & desire. Plus by practicing capitalism we are able to do our own thing and if we screw up we learn and are able to better ourselves. With the government interfering its harder to be able to produce the things we want to produce. -Jennifer Lee
I think the government should have a small role in the economy like in capitalism. They should only regulate things like compition and prices. The government shouldn't have any say in what we buy (unless it's illegal) because it's for us. It should also be the companies decision on what we to produce, how to produce, and for whom to produce. It would just cause problems with things like motivation if people and companies were told what they need to make.
I believe that the government should create an equilibrium of control, combining both capitalism and a command economy. Then we would be more likely to have a balanced economy. Plus, nothing would get done with one side acquiring more power than the other, it would just be caus. The government, I believe, does have the right to control competition, so things don't get too out of hand. The people should be able to open their own businesses and create demand among its community.~Amanda Hubert
I think we should have more of a capitalism economy. I think that the government should not have a strong influence on how people sell and buy good and services. I do think that they should have some control so that they can regulate some things about the economy. I do not think that the government should should have a say in the competition of businesses. I do see the need for getting charters for corporations. -Blair
I believe that government should have little interference or control in an economy. It is important that we as people control and regulate things ourselves, for the most part. Sure, the government will have to interfere in some circumstances, when necessary, but that is appropriate. It isn't fair to countries like China that are completely controlled by the government, because that doesn't allow people to do as they choose. Also if you lived somewhere with a command economy it may be very hard to succeed as an entrepreneur, with the government telling you what to do and how. It just makes more sence for capitolism where the people and the government are somewhat at a balance with eachother.
i believe that the government should have little interference in the economy. i think the government should have little to do with the economy because competition is good. competition makes producers want to make better products and evolve. people want to be the best they can and try there hardest when theirs competition.if the government was controlling everything there would be no competition so advancements would slow down and some things would never have been created.
I personally believe that the government should play a lesser role than the people in the economy. While I do believe they should moderate and represent the people they too also make good decisions. The government does create competition but it is the people that create the outcomes. I believe the people know what is best for them and I believe the government can make the best decision for them. While command economy does work, it is not as efficient or successful enough as the capital economy. Government should play more of a moderator role rather than a boss.
My personal opinion is that government should play a bigger role in the economy. They might outlaw monopolies but they need to make sure all the food they gets put into markets is safe. I've recently watched Food Inc. and that's made me think...what are our governments doing to prevent the out breaks of E.Coli and Salmanella? Nothing. Their encouraging the filthyness of slaughter houses and breeding grounds of the caws and pigs and chickens and every other meat product thats being consumed. Government needs to come down harder on big industries. They need a higher ranking for specific things.
I think the government should have a minimal interference with the economy. The people should be allowed to make their own economic decisions without being told what to do like in a command government. In a Free Market economy with more completion and more people participating is better because more ideas spread and people can handle things on their own. I feel as though the government should only step in to set rules and regulations to prevent companies from abusing or taking advantage of people’s rights. But still to a minimum interference because I think when a government gets too involved, restricts the people’s privilege of controlling their own economy.
I think the government shouldn't have the biggest role in the economy. It should be both a command ecconomy and a capitalism economy. Like in a command economy, the government can control some aspects such as regulating competition and other appropriate aspects. But also like a capitalism economy, the people has control over their life with little goverment interference in their everyday lives. The people can make their own decisions and control stuff on their own. Unlike in other parts of the country, such as China, where they have a total command economy and the government controls everything. They have no freedom and can't do anything on their own because the government is controlling them.
In my opinion the government’s economic interference should be minimal to inexistent. The government should control competition however they should not have a significant role in choosing what a company produces as long as it is legal. Consumers know what they desire and when a certain good or service is “in”, producers should be able to make that item without the government strictly monitoring their production. Entrepreneurs and business owners should hold full responsibility for their priorities and should be held accountable for all mishaps they face. Most People learn from their business/financial mistakes, which is why trial and error is the best lesson learned. History has proven that free enterprise capitalism is the most successful economic system in the world.
i believe goverment should have some interference with the economy. people should be able to create their own pruducts, share their opinions in the market, and even start their own businesses but even the smartest people sometimes need help with certain things that would be hard for them to control. individuals only have a certain amount of power that they can use to their advantage. goverment should be able to control competition. the goverment should take over any part of a corperation or business that could damage our economy. i believe both citizens and the goverment can help the economy and they need to work together in balance.
I believe that the government should have little interference in the economy. I think the government should have little to do with the economy because competition is good. Competition makes producers want to make better products and evolve. People want to try there best theirs competition with there business. If the government was controlling everything there would be no competition so making new thinks will slow down and some things would not have been invented.
Government plays a larger role in the economy than they should. Business should be aloud to succed of fail on their own. Even though the government should make sure buisneeese make safe products they should not tell them how much to charge or when to stop growing. The government is necessary to keep order but should keep quiet when it comes to economics. Often times the government makes buisnesses and corporations do things in order to be safe but some of the things they make them do are asking too much of the owners who are trying to make a living. -Kyle anthony
I think that the way we run our economy in the U.S. is the best way. If the government had absolutely no influence in the economy, it would ultimately fail. However, If the government had complete control of the economy it would hurt consumers more than help them. What I mean by this is that in a command economy the government would be like a giant monopoly because they can set the prices to whatever they want. Now, if they set low prices on all the country's goods and services than it would help consumers more than hurt them.
I think the government should play a small role in the economy. The government should only be allowed to handle a few things in the economy like stopping monopolies. If the government had no influence over the economy then it would crash because we would be paying to much for certain items. The way our economy is controlled now is perfect because the government can step in and help when needed but the citizens have most of the control over the economy the rest of the time.
I think goverment should not play much role in an economy. Goverment should only be able to handle some things in an economy. Goverment should regulate competition. Competition is good for businesses, anybody that has the possabilities to open a business should do it and be able to sell their best products and make their own decisions.
I think that the government shouldn't play a huge role in the economy. I think that the government should get involved only to keep competition and to make sure that advertising is kept fair. I agree with the principle of laissez-faire economics, which is to let the economy take care of itself and the people wil be directed by an invisible hand. However, to keep compettion, the government must be able to regulate certain facets of the economy.
In my opinion, government should have the very least amount of a role in the economy because what they mostly need to worry about are laws or anything else related to that. Such as our country, capitalism is what runs the economy, private or public corporations have their own rights of what they want to do with their means of production and distribution. Other countries such as China are run by a command economy, that shows that their companies and many other corporations are checked and owned by government to monitor what they are selling or buying as resources. If the economy were to be run by government, then the board of directors in big corporations would not have as much freedom or rights that they have now, to express what they want to sell to the buyers like ourselves. Our economy has the equalized amount of control, a little of government, but not so much as to a command economy.
I believe that in a good economy there is a very thin line between excessive government regulation and insufficient government regulation. Our government agencies are responsible for making sure products are safe, competition is prominent, and businesses take the necessary legal steps and practices upon establishment. Without a government role, prices can become too high or too low and the GDP can be at fault from poor economic choices. I'm sure that even a recession or depression could take place without making the ideal economic decisions. But where I believe the government is cut off, is when dealing with the individual's motive. If the government were to regulate the entire economy, yes I'm sure there would be more equality and stability, but where that falters is when the people lose motivation to work as hard. The quality of work goes down and there is very little innovation. I think that the dispute between Laissez Faire Economics and Government regulation is very controversial and there are advantages for both. When it comes down to it, I believe we need both. Not one is stronger than the other.
My opinion on government's role in the economy isn't quite defined. In a way I think that government should leave the economy alone to the people to run but only if it is doing good. I feel like when the economy is in need of help the government should be the ones to save it. I also feel like in order for that to happen the government needs plans on how to boost the economy and help with unemployment which I kinda think they need to improve on. So I guess I think the role of government in our economy compared to our role as people in the economy should be equal and work on a system that is simular to checks and balences.
i believe government should have somewhat of a role in our economy. I think we should have independantly owned businesses to increase competition, because competition ultimatly creats better products. I do believe that government should be involved.
